The Cowgirls lost to Calloway Ladies 11-5
The Cricket Cup Team lost to Weston Super Mare 3rds in the Butcombe Cup. It is always the way in the cup, you draw a team that are several divisions above you and then get roundly defeated in front of a UKIP meeting that is taking place in the opposition’s club house. They got off to a good start with a great brute of a man hitting boundaries with ease but after a few quick wickets they were pinned back to 128 in their 20 overs. The Cowboys never quite got going with the bat and in the face of some very accurate bowling limped to 80 odd in their 20 overs.

The Easton Cowboys 3rd Team lost to Brislington 4th Team by 26 runs. The glorious 3rds were not so glorious and lost a match they should have won quite comfortably. Only one of the opposition batsmen got into double figures and he got 108 having been dropped when he was on about 10. The extras were the second highest scorer with 34 out of Brislington’s 181. Garner bowled 8-0-26-3 and Gary bowled 8-0-23-1. Dave Flinton kept wicket manfully taking a great catch to dismiss one of the openers. The Cowboys managed to keep up with the required run rate for quite a while but kept losing wickets, the extras top scored with 38 beating Ev by 1 run. 3 players scored 13 and Rob was unlucky to get out on the 7th ball of an over (the umpire had miscounted). Otam was so displeased by this defeat that he has threatened to remove chip privileges.
24/05/2009
The Cricket 1st Team lost to Grendel by 8 wickets. The Cowboy’s batted 1st and got 80 all out in 19 overs with Justine getting 28 and the extras getting 22. Grendel knocked the runs off in 19 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Chris bowled 7-2-12-1.
The Cricket 2nd Team lost to Portways by 8 wickets. The Cowboys hit 124 all out of 36.3 overs with Boults hitting 26 and Aran hitting 37. Portways got the runs in 14 overs.

Football and passion were always the fashion
On the Copa
The Cowboys won
(4-1 against the Rio Punx in a beach football match)
Punky’s report goes something like this:
well easton cowboys/girls made the pilgrimage to the maracana to see brasiliann cup quarter finals 2nd leg – fluminese v corinthians – we were in the away end in crowd of approx 65000. awesome atmosphere and great result for corinthians although ronaldo was shit.
preceding this was 2 great victories for cowboys on the copacabana – firstly beating rio punx 4-1 , and then beating a corinthians supporters group , i cannot recollect score but shall update you .
contact has been made with another team for future trips , red machine i believe. everyone played well – jock described as a warrior! more friendships made and all round top trip to rio ( and we survived the journey there and back with the driver who had some odd driving techniques to say the least)
day off today then on saturday there is a game against los fanaticos.
see you all soon next week when i shall bore and regale you with many tales.
Check out the message board for more banter.

Catches Win Matches
14/05/2009
The Cowgirls lost to The Beer Factory 1-20.
16/05/2009
The Glorious Thirds won their second game of the season beating Keynsham 3rd Team by 5 Wickets in 32.1 overs. On a very wet, windy day we won the toss and decided to bowl. They say that catches win matches and so it was proved. Dunc took a stunning catch on the boundry before taking two more gooduns, Gary took a great low catch square of the wicket, The Webgimp took a high one that stayed in the air swirling in the wind for 3 hours and Grech caught one behind the stumps. And if all this amazing catching was not enough there were run outs as well, Garner threw down the stumps from about 3 miles away and Jeff palmed a throw into the stumps for a second run out. Keynsham all out for 128 in 38.4 overs with Gary bowling 6.4- 1-16-4 and Garner bowling 8-1-18-2. The Cowboys got the runs in difficult wet conditions with Ev getting 35 and Gary getting 56.

Both cricket games were rained off.
Blood And Guts In Wrington
07/05/2009
The Cowgirls lost to Woodstock Jollies 4-9.
09/05/2009
Netball1 beat Skybound2 by 51-29 and so finish second in Division 8 and are promoted for the third season on the run.
Netball2 lost to Mangotsfield5 7-23.
The Cricket 3rd Team lost to Wrington 2nd Team by 60 runs. On a horrible dry and crumbly pitch Stevo won the toss and put Wrintgon in to bat and they scored 181 for 7 and Gary took 2 wickets for 12 runs off his 8 overs. DC II got smacked in the chops by the ball while standing at square leg and despite needing 5 stitches he still wouldn’t shut up. The Cowboys got 121 for 9 off 38.4 with DC II being declared unfit for purpose despite his willingness to bat. After a great start form our manly opening pair, Stevo hit 27, the middle order collapsed amidst uneven bounce before Gretch pivoted on his back heal like Grandpa Kelly to hit 34 not out.
10/05/2009
The Sunday Team lost to PJ Services 2-3 but are still promoted and are still Division 1 Champions.
The Cricket 1st Team had a ding dong battle with Barrow Gurney 2nd Team but lost by 5 wickets. The Cowboys batted 1st hitting 193 for 6 off their 40 overs. Captain Chris hit 71 and Maverik hit 55 not out. Barrow Gurney got the runs in 36.5 overs. Kalu bowled 6 overs for 28 taking 2 wickets.
The 2nd Team had the weekend off.
Tournament Invite
We have been sent the following tournament invite:
COPA LUCRECIA LINDO 2009
WOMEN’S FUTBOL FOR NICARAGUA
Hola Companeras y amigas de futbol
Bristol Link with Nicaragua is organising a women’s five-a-side footballl tournament to raise some funds for a women’s Project in Puerto Morazan, Bristol’s twin town in Nicaragua, Central America.
The tournament is named after Nicaraguan heroine and revolutionary martyr Lucrecia Lindo whose name is taken by many women’s projects, co-operatives and campaigns in present day Nicaragua. BLINC has supported the Lucrecia Lindo women’s shrimp farming co-operative since it started in 1986.
The Copa Lucrecia Lindo will take place on SUNDAY 14th JUNE 2009 at Windmill Hill City Farm, Phillip St, Bedminster (opposite ASDA). The five a side pitch is permaprene so you will need trainers and a minimum of five players but in our experience a squad of seven is best. We are hoping to have ten teams with one group of five in the morning and one in the afternoon. The top two from each group will go through to semis. The farm café will be open all day for food and drinks and changing rooms/showers are available. The City Farm has kindly agreed to give us the pitch for free to support our project. A big muchas gracias to them.
BLINC will provide a trophy, referees, balls and bibs although please try and ensure your team all wear the same colour shirts. Copa Lucrecia Lindo rules will be sent out along with sponsor forms and other details once you have booked a place. We are asking each player to raise £10 with a minimum of £50 per team.
If you would like to enter a team in this year’s Copa Lucrecia Lindo, please send your team’s name, contact details and a £50 deposit cheque made out to “BLINC” to
