Ultra Casuals 4 – 4 Bathelona
Ultras win 5-4 on penalties.
Ah..the magic of the Cup!
First division versus Fifth, but for long periods of this game you couldn’t tell who was who. Bathelona went 2-0 up but the tide started to turn in our favour after Luke scored just before the break. In the second half it was all Ultras. Luke with another and Simon (scoring his first goal for the team) putting us 3-2 up. A controversial offside goal meant that Bathelona pegged us back before Luke rounded off his hat trick to make it 4-3 with six minutes left. We were within sniffing distance of another Cup shock! But then…oh no with the last kick of the game Bathelona hit a screamer into the bottom left hand corner of Martin’s net and the ref blows. Penalties it is.
But the Ultras’ resolve holds. Tim Knight, Luke and Ben all scored and when Bathelona skied their fourth, Simon kept his nerve and then Martin the keeper hit the winning penalty. Cue an Ultras bundle and much celebration on the touchline.
So the Ultras march onto the last 16. We’ve now got St Marys Old Boys in the next round. Bring ’em on!

Vote For The Misfits
Friends of the Cowgirls, The Misfits WFC, have been shortlisted nationally for a fair game award. They have been shortlisted to the last 20 and it now goes to public vote, if they get in to the top 10 they’ll get a team kit – they’ve never all had a proper kit so that would be amazing. Please vote, put it on your Facebook, Twitter etc., anything to help get them many votes as possible. They are number 19 on the page, in pink (bottom row,4th in), link below, thank you.

Quiffey’s Little Band
Kev / Quiffey / Tosser’s band is fronting a “West Country Invasion” night at the Thunderbolt on Easter Saturday, 30th March. As well as the Skimmity Hitchers you can marvel at Bristol legends the Surfin Turnips, get messy with Somerset hip-hoppers the Inbredz (think Goldie Looking Chain with a cider habit), stroke your scraggly beard to cider folkers The Shinkickers and finally hoedown till the end of the night with DJ Rock n Roll Town Crier (yes, he’s a bona fide town crier, and yes he is rock n roll). Entry is a paltry £5 in advance, £7 on the night, and runs from 7pm until 1am. Flyer attached.

Netball report thus:
The 6’s lost yesterday to a very strong Doves team 23-46. We got booked for dissent 3 times by the umpires who were rude and arrogant. Not our best game! Mare got player from them and Linners from us.
An extremely close game for the Div 11s today: we took on Wired but were defeated in the final moments 23-25. Although we scored more goals than Wired in three of the four quarters, Wired put in a strong performance in the third quarter and established a two-goal margin that we couldn’t quite close. Had the game been a few minutes longer we’d have done it! The Cowgirls exhibited some of the best play I’ve seen all season, with some effective defensive back-lines and great passing into the attacking circle. Cat was awarded player of the match by Wired and Rosie by us. Massive thanks to Leela for stepping in to umpire so our match could go ahead when one of the teams failed to provide someone. A really enjoyable game: well done everyone x
