Cowgirls football training cancelled tonight!
Unfortunately the 3G pitches at City Academy are closed due to snow and ice so Cowgirls football training is cancelled tonight – 21st Jan 2013.
We will be training indoors as usual this Wednesday from 7.30-9pm so hope to see lots of you then!
Trainers For Homeless Folks

Some of you may know that I run a monthly foot clinic for homeless people at the Compass Centre on Jamaica street.
We try and keep a stock of trainers/shoes and socks there so we can give people replacements if needed. This time of year many people come in with soaking wet feet and foot problems related to bad footwear, and the cold and wet weather over the last couple of months means that at the moment our stocks are really low. We are not too bad for socks, as a lot of charities donate socks around christmas, but we are really low on mens trainers.
So, if anyone has any old trainers that they no longer wear, but still have a bit of life left in them, please consider passing them on to me so I can find then a good new home. You really would be making the world of difference to someone sleeping on the streets at the moment.

Downs B beat Torpedo A 5-3.
Netball reported thus:
The 6’s took on Cosmos today in the icy rain and made them wish they’d have stayed at home, beating them 32-6. Mare got player from them and Lou from us. Cracking start to the 2nd half of the season!
Like this time last year, the 11s made it a DOUBLE WIN DAY (happiness best expressed in capitals!), with a victory over Olveston Reds 13-11. After a full 15 minutes of play the score was, unbelievably, only 1-1. Thankfully it ceased to look like a football score come half time as the scores inched up! We slowly closed the gap over the course of the game and clinched the victory with some great goals in the last quarter. Well done to everyone for slugging it out in the freezing weather and big thanks to Helen for helping us out with some top shooting. Cat was awared player of the match by Olveston and there was a three-way tie of Emma D, Holly and Max from us.

Most of you who know the Lunatics, will know Eddy, brother of Rudi (our Captain) and a regular at the European tournaments, most recently in Ber
row. One of the house-dj’s of the Lunatics.
Sadly, since last Thursday night, Eddy is no longuer among us.
The Lunatics family is absolutely devastated. Eddy’s funeral is this Saturday at 10 am.
RIP big fellah – we miss you terribly

Copa America Alternativa
I’ve heard from our friends out in Argentina and plans for the 2nd Copa America Alternativa are well under way. They are asking who plans to come.. details are :
It’s being held in Argentina, in Gualeguaychú, about 230kms from Buenos Aires. There is camping and it’s a beautiful place. The idea is playing a 4 days cup, starting on thursday the 14 Feb 2013 and ending on sunday the 17th Feb…. providing most of the teams can arrive on time.
It would be fantastic if we could get some cowboys n cowgirls out there again. Last year, we all had a great time at the 1st tournament, and also visited & stayed with Autonomos in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
This time I don’t think I am going to able to make it so I’m not offering to sort anything out, but I can put people in touch with those who are planning it if you want to go / want any more info.
