Bar Staff Wanted

Posted by on May 3, 2012 in Community News | 0 comments

If you want a free ticket to this event they are looking for bar staff:

Join with fellow punks (young and not so young!) to remember what the ‘77 Jubilee was really all about.

Set in the, usually, peaceful and tranquil surroundings of Bath Racecourse this weekend will be a chance to see all your favourite bands all in one place and you don’t have to worry about getting the last bus home at the end of the night!

As well as some of the best live bands on the circuit (and a few that you don’t get to see very often!) there will be excellent food (not just your usual burger ‘n’ chips), spacious camping grounds, family-friendly facilities, on-site parking, cool bars, market stalls and loads of other entertainment.

We are doing the bars at this event and are looking for volunteers to work two shifts of up to 5 hours in exchange for a weekend ticket with camping. Please get in touch with robin@bigbars.co.uk if you are interested. Cheers.

Easton Cowboys & Cowgirls Euro 2012 Predictor

Posted by on May 2, 2012 in 2012 Tournament, Club News | 0 comments

With euro 2012 just around the corner and with this season coming to a close our attention turns to international football, it is time for another fundraiser to help fund our tournament. Its quite simple just predict the score for each of the group games and points will be awarded, the people with the highest score at the end of the group stages wins the money.

RULES: Just predict the scores for all the group games and then points will be awarded for the closeness of your prediction will get you a score, points for correct scores and correct results.

The scores will be added to a spreadsheet and all the scores will be totted up and there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd . This will just run for the group games (24 Games)

  • Points for Correct Goals per team 3 Points
  • Points for Correct Result 2 Points
  • Points for Group Rank Position 5 Points (Group positions will be decided by the results that are entered)

This means that there are a total of 8 points available per game, 3 points for getting each score right and two points for getting the right results. All predictions that are entered are put into a spreadsheet that will work out the finishing positions in each group based on predictions, if you guess the correct finishing positions in the group you will be awarded 5 points that means there are an extra 20 points (5 per team) available for each group.

Hope this makes sense to everybody any questions email Scott (scotthomas78@hotmail.com) please.

All entries and money are to be paid by 23:59 Thursday 7th June any late entries will be entered but scoring begins from the date of entry. Just fill in form above and email it back to me (scotthomas78@hotmail.com) mark them Euro’12 Predictions and get them to me before the closing date. Money will be collected by me.

Entry will be £5 and the more that enter the higher the prize and more money for the tournament funds.

Prizes will be as follow:

1st = 35% of takings
2nd = 10% of takings
3rd = 5% of takings.

There was no cricket this weekend however, there was a little netball. It went thus:

The 6’s had a close game with Doves but narrowly lost by 4 goals. 31-35. Vernie got voted player of the match by them and Mare, jopey and Vernie got it from us x

Of course it was not sport that was occupying people’s minds this weekend. Well done to everybody that made Bring The Heat such a storming night.

Downs A beat Snynd Park 1-0 and so finished 3rd in Divsion 2 of the Downs League. Since Torpedo Res finsihed second and they already have a team in Divison 1 the Cowboys are promoted. Well done to GB and his players.

Downs B lost their final game of the season 8-3 to Wellington Wanderers. They finish 9 out of 14 in Division 3.

The Suburbans lost to Stoke Gifford 2-3. They are currently in second place seperated from  Severn Beach in third by goal difference. Tomorrow night these two teams play each other in what will be a decider for the runner’s upspot and promotion. They game is at BAWA kicking off at 6.15pm.

Netball reports thus: The A’s battered DHT today 61-25. Yes 61 goals! 1 for every minute that we played and 1 for luck. Mair got the double player vote for ‘on fire mair’ shooting.
The too’s played their last match of the season but lost 8-28. Cat got player from them and a 3 way tie of Rachel, Misty and Yo from us.

Both the cricket games scheduled for the weekend were called off due to the weather.

A few reminders :

You only have a week left before the beginning of the cricket season, so that if you plan to get a fantasy team in before the first match you better get a move on. There are now about 40 teams entered and so the pirze will be in excess of £200. If you you find picking a cricket team  a bit of a mystery you can have a random team picked for you (sorry Ev but you can not use this as  a  method of running the Saturday Team). Find out more at eastoncowfolk.org.uk/fantasy-cricket

Bring Mo Heat is at the Community Centre on Saturday 28th. At £5 for a packed night of entertainment it is geat value.

The Full Club BGM is on Monday night at Hawkes Gym.

The fancy dress netball tournament is on Sunday 6th May.

Find out more about all of these on the Diary Page.

Still Time For Fantasy

Posted by on Apr 20, 2012 in 2012 Tournament, Team News | 0 comments

Fantasy has reported thus:

Here we go then. This is your official one week’s notice for participation in this season’s prestige cricket event.

For anyone who has still to submit their entries into the 2012 Fantasy Cricket League, if you want them to be able to score for the full season, there’s only one week left before the deadline to get your teams in.

The first league game is scheduled for Saturday 28th April, so if your teams have not been received by Thursday 26th they will not be able to score from the first weekend of the season. And there’ll be no backdating of entries – if you miss it, the opportunity to score from that week is gone for good.

Be warned! This is the competition every other cricketer in the cowboys is going to be talking about all through the season & the last thing we we want is folks going around sulking & alienated just because they couldn’t be bothered to play.

There are no excuses left; even if you can’t decide on who you should pick for your teams! As long as you’re willing to make a contribution to fundraising for this year’s tournament & get your fingers out for 3 minutes we’ll make sure your conscience goes away happy for the whole of the cricket season & you can enjoy the full glory of the tournament with a nourished soul.

Just send us an email or reply to this one saying you’d like us to pick you a random team & we’ll do a lucky dip selection.

All you have to do is pick your team names & decide whether to get your tenners to Dean at the Plough or bring them to nets next Tuesday or make a bank transfer; send us these details & the rest is done for you.
And if you have a favourite cricketing cowboy or there are any other cricketing cowboys you know you want to have in your otherwise random teams, just mention them in the email. So long as you don’t go over the top & pick more than 5 of them, we’ll make sure they all feature for you.

Need any more information? It’s all here: eastoncowfolk.org.uk/fantasy-cricket
