Los Autônomos News
JD has reported that Manu Chau has been seen wearing a Autônomos F.C. shirt at a recent free gig in Sao Paulo. Below is a photo of the man himself and yes he is wearing such an item (sorry for the press agency copyright splashed on the top of the picture but our budget does not stretch to buying in photos, it makes him look like he is performing in a shop window).
Also if you happen to be in Sao Paulo this weekend FC Autonomos are having a little party, Google Translate reports thus:
Ok, I have heard that such autonomy but that football has to do with politics? Football with punk rock?
If you have already asked this, is there a third party to give you an Autonomous light.
Punk rock, hardcore, soccer championship Button (bring your team) and a debate on exactly that freaked a lot of grown men and grown men chasing a ball – but in our case, the guys on the other team a lot. .. sometimes carry batons and guns.
In the bargain, you still get a sticker or a button Auto if it comes with the shirt of your team’s heart.
Those concerned that we will always wonder about it, we will also have shirts for sale on time.
Attend!
Sweet Suburbia – 77 punk rock in the style of the UK. http://www.myspace.com/sweetsuburbia
Boarding School – 80’s rock, 70, 60, surf music and cheesy humor.
http://www.myspace.com/colegiointernoVictim – representing the female wing, because football and punk rock is not just your boyfriend, the girls of the victim make a sound and lively dancing, brought in a British female rock 70s and 80s. With nothing written yet.*
Light Middle East – Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Dry Eye. They said it looks like, but what’s new in the case of a hardcore band 80 years? Well, you had people who saw Minutemen and the Strokes with listen. Bizarro? As far as the band’s name, making his first show. With nothing written yet.*
*Another translation site says this means “Without anything carved still” but Babel Fish says “Without nothing recorded still”.
If somebody can do a better job at translating this please send it in. The original is as follows: (more…)

Terrace Bint
Another link, this time supplied by Carly from Manchester via Punky. It is for a blog called Terrace Bint which is:
“A lot of ranting, a bit of moaning, plenty of crap jokes, and an attempt to address some of the issues that girls and women who go to football, to discuss ideas and share stories and hear our own realities represented.
This fanzine aims, amongst other things, to give women and girls the chance to write about what they personally find important or interesting without worrying about the “NWAF, fuck off to Marie Claire” brigade getting on their case. It also aims to do the opposite – provide the chance to be totally un-serious, daft, and even downright ridiculous. We’re here to take the piss.
Originally conceived as a printed fanzine in 2008 but since realised as a blog to make it less static and more dynamic and interactive, we need your input, in any way, shape or form. Please email your comments, photos, suggestions, articles, or rants to the below address. Get scribbling, get snapping, get angry, GET INVOLVED.”
Ghost Bikes
Here is a link for all you itinerant cyclists, it is called Ghost Bike. It seems to involve putting a ghostly white bike as a memorial to a comrade who died in action at the scene of the crash. There is/was one in Bristol.

Cowgirls Supporting Luleki Sizwe
The Cowgirls are organising a women’s club night in aid of Luleki Sizwe on Saturday.
To summarise, this is what has happened so far. Please note, some of this is very distressing:
- Cowgirls form a bond with Luleki Sizwe, a charity in South Africa set up by Ndumie Funda
- Cowgirls raise money and send to Luleki Sizwe to support their work helping victims of corrective rape
- Luleki Sizwe support Millicent, a woman raped by her neighbour for 5 hours to “correct” her homosexuality, to bring a court case against him
- the man, despite being caught by 3 of Millie’s neighbours in the act, is released on bail
- Milly has to face him in the court room ALONE without her mother or Luleki Sizwe friends
- the man has been terrorising Millie and Ndumie, driving Millie to despair and suicidal wishes
- yesterday Ndumie went into hiding from this man. The police are doing very little to protect her or Millie.
- While Ndumie was hiding, another woman who had been “correctively raped” called her office for help. There was no reply. Ndumie found out that this woman killed herself, feeling there was no where else to go.
- Millie’s tormentor is still out on bail and the court case has been adjourned to the New Year.
- December 2010 Cowgirls hold letter writing evening in support of Millie, Luleki Sizwe and sending protest letters to the Minister of Justice.
Here is an email we received from Jules , Luleki Sizwe’s UK representative:
You gals did a great job before with the fundraising and Ndumie really appreciates the support. She’s having a tough time as you know, with threats against her and little security.
She’d love to receive messages of support. Please make as much noise as you can about the Millicent case as currently the rapist is out of prison and threatening Ndumie and the police are doing nothing about it…….so tell lots of people!
Thanks for your continuing support

May Park Wood
Keep May Park Wood open!
May Park Wood (in the corner of Rosemary Green behind May Park School) is a small woodland which was planted by local people and their children during the 1990s for shared use by the school and the local community. It is much loved by local people and visited every day of the year.
May Park School has announced its intention to close the Wood to the public next month and keep it for the exclusive use of the school and organised groups.
We want local school children to spend more time in the wood for education and play, but believe this is possible without closing the wood. We ask the school to postpone its plans and enter into proper
discussion with local people about alternative schemes that would allow continued public access to the wood and be more in keeping with the original intentions of the people who planted it.
Public event in May Park Wood Saturday 5th February at 11am.
Please join us to celebrate the wood and discuss the future. Bring tea/coffee/cake, and/or share ours!
- Petition: http://epetitions.bristol.gov.uk/epetition_core/view/mayparkwood
- Blog: http://schoolwood.blogspot.com
- mail ideas, stories and photos about the wood to mayparkwood@yahoo.co.uk
We would especially like to hear from you if you remember the area before the woodland was planted.
