The following is an excerpt from an email sent to The Webgimp.

I’m part of a new Bristol project The Happy City Initiative. It is in it’s pilot year and works across the city, at all levels, engaging individuals and communities in exploring what happiness is, what matters to them, what is of value in their lives and how to grow more of what makes people happy. It is about celebrating, sharing and learning from all the brilliant ingenious local solutions that already exist in Bristol communities, which collectively make this city happier.

We have been working in your area during November. We asked people for their ingredients for happiness and for solutions to make Easton a happier place. You were mentioned to us by people in the area as a solution for happiness. We are in the process of creating a happiness bank on our website to share these solutions with visitors to our site. We would like to add your project to our happiness bank.

Still Bloody Cold So Play Indoors

Posted by on Dec 8, 2010 in Results/Reports | 0 comments

It has been another week of extreme cold but the Futsal Team have reached the final in a sport designed by Brazilians to beat the British winter.

04/12/2010

The Downs League was off again, so were the Suburbans.

There seems to have been no netball either, although the fixtures say next week the One’s have Team Bath Tigers… Gosh!

05/12/2010

The Sundays did not seem to play either.

So if you want to play you should play indoors…

Futsal

Nov 2nd: 7-6 v Seymour Old Boys

Nov 9th: 4-6 v Futsal Squirrels

Nov 16th: 7-3 v Athletico

Nov 23rd: 5-4 v Bigos

Nov 30th: 6-5 v Inter Yman

Dec 7th: 6-3 v Seymour Old Boys

Futsal news:

Jesse reports thus:

After a topsy turvy title race the Cowboys are on course to win Bristols first ever Futsal league. One game to go and one point clear, a win in the final game will do it. But we play our nearest rivals the ‘Futsal Squirrels’ in the final game and they also need to win to take the title. A draw will let our Polish friends ‘Bigos’ (translation “Polish Beef”, apparently) leapfrog both teams. ‘Bigos’ were running away with the title until we beat them 3 weeks ago and stormed back into it.

WE NEED YOU! The boys would love a crowd there next tuesday night at Hanham High – there’s no seats but you can just squeeze round the edges and be our..err..6th man. Come along and create a Cowboys party atmosphere – they seriously wont know whats hit them!

There is talk of a drummer coming and of Khaz putting a curry on after back at HQ..

Hopefully see you Next Tuesday, Hanham High Sports Hall. Kick Off 8 or 8.45 p.m – t.b.c.

Luleki Sizwe letter writing – 6th Dec

Posted by on Nov 26, 2010 in Events News | 0 comments

Where: Monday 6th December at 20:45pm in The Plough

The Cowgirls support Luleki Sizwe, a charity that helps women who are victims of corrective rape (lesbians raped by men to “make them straight”) in South Africa.

We’ll be using the power of words – writing letters of outrage to the Minister of Justice and letters /cards of support to the members of the group.

Our friends over there are having a terrible time, with a rape case taking place where the rapist is out on bail and persecuting members of the group, as well as his victim. As a result of the group’s founder having to go into hiding, another victim of corrective rape killed herself because she couldn’t access the support she needed.

Everyone is welcome – Cowgirls, Cowboys, friends and family of them all. The more we write the better.

For more on Luleki Sizwe, check: http://web.me.com/juleshussey/luleki/home.html
