Gig News
Relive those funky free festival yesteryears in the comfort of a proper heated building with bar and everything! Veteran dubby skankers AOS3 are making a rare live appearance on our very own doorstep on Friday 3rd December at Easton Community Centre, 9pm – 2am, £5 before 10pm, £7 after. They’ll be accompanied by various other ne’er-do-wells and there’s stuff going on all over the building that should appeal to pretty much anyone with a pulse and vague sense of rhythm.
It’s a benefit for Autonomous Spaces Of Bristol, so you can feel good as you destroy your feet / liver / carefully cultivated public persona yet again. More info on the Kebele Sound website:
I’ll be getting hot n’ sweaty down the front. And if the thought of that alone doesn’t make you moist with anticipation, I suggest you check in to the local mortuary.

Christmas Party News
The Festive season will soon be upon us, time for the Xmas Party!
The Christmas Party will be ticket only and they will cost £2 each. Contact your team captain/manager or Kim for more details.
This year it will be on Friday 17th December, 8pm onwards in our beloved Plough. The theme is ‘The Office
Christmas Party’ – 80s style – so think power dressing, fat bellies, bad suits, cigars, brick sized cell phones, the
office letch, the office tart, the office gossip, the office agony aunt/uncle etc!
We’ll have Muff Said and Who’s Afear’d, we got Paul Moylan plus the legendary Simon Denny on a special
visit, we’ll have 80s karaoke and Santa’s Grotto (guess who’s gonna be Santa?!). There will be a stationary
cupboard and it will be the responsibility of ALL staff to make sure that it is used (in)appropriately!!
Shots WILL be administered on arrival….
It’s gonna be huge – put it in your diaries and pump up your shoulder pads…

Gig Guide
News has reached these parts that there are a couple of interesting gigs happing soon. Sid reports thus:
Pipes & Pints, Spanner and Kilnaboy
Day & Date: Thursday 4th November 2010
Time: 8pm ’til late
Venue: The Plough, Easton, Bristol BS5 0EG
Cost: £5
They’re here to play a benefit gig for Bristol Antifa and Bristol No Borders. These are three bands guaranteed to generate a proper knees-up. Local folk/ska-punkers are joined by Czech bagpipe-punk legends P&P – think Dropkick Murphys with a much better attitude. Definitely not to be missed.
Tell the world and see you at the bar.
Skimmity Hitchers (AKA Quiffey’s new band)
Day: Tuesday 9th November
Time: 8:30ish
Venue: The Seven Stars, Thomas Lane, BS1 6JG
Cost: Your soul
There was a time when the naughty little Quiffey boy was in a band called Who’s A’feared. Well they are no more but the quiff would not lie flat and so a new band the Skimmity Hitchers have been formed to continue the Dorset toss. Or as the Quiffmiester himself puts it:
Back at last to one of Bristol’s finest and most historical boozers, we hope to emulate the many rip-roaring gigs we’ve played here before.
Current landlord Paul is proud of the pub’s history, and also a firm believer in quality ale and cider. The pub recently won CAMRA’s best Bristol boozer for the second year in a row. Top hole fellas!
For those who don’t know already now, the Seven Stars has a proud place in the slavery abolition movement: http://www.brh.org.uk/plaque/index.html
