27/02/2010

Due to a deluge shortly before kick off the Downs League matches were cancelled. Unfortunately they managed to find a pitch dry enough to play the GFA Cup Semi final. Unfortunately because the Suburbans were beaten 4-0 by Ashley.

Both netball teams won. Netball 1 thrillingly beat Eastfield 34-33 and Netabll 2 thumped Oasis 36-15.

28/02/2010

The Futsal Team lost to Team Bath Res. 6-3.

The Casuasl were rained off and the Sundays and Ultra Casuals did not play.

Ground Force 2010

Posted by on Mar 2, 2010 in Team News | 0 comments

As usual there will be a Ground Force Weekend to get Frenchay ready for the new season. This involves the usual bits of gardening, fence painting, plumbing and sight screen moving. There is free food for those that turn up and help.

This year it will be the 27th and 28th March, starting at 9:30am.

Somerset County Futsal League

Easton Cowboys 2-2 Team Bath 3rds

Easton Cowboys first ever official Futsal match took place this Valentines Day. Eight pious warriors took a vow of celibacy for the morning and went forth to gloriously defend the mighty Easton and the jewel in her crown, the Plough Inn.

Team Baths facilities were clearly created for proper athletes: the building was like a humungous sports space-station with amazing, pristene facilities attended to by hundreds of clean cut athletic specimans. Enter Bristol’s only anarchist football team stinking of cider. My brother said he felt like the Jamaican bob-sleigh team in ‘Cool Runnings’. (more…)

13/02/2010

Netball 1 lost narrowly to Novers 25-28

The Saturday Suburbans are back to winning ways and won 3-2 against Ashton Rangers

The Saturday A Team gained more valuable points beating (yes Jack, BEATING) Lawes Juniors 2-1

The Saturday B Team also recorded a much needed win beating Ashley Res. 3-2.

14/02/2010

The Sunday Team lost to Katsura 3-1 (away)

The Casuals beat Avon Retreads (I have to be careful typing that) 6-4. PC scoring a hatrick

The Saturday A Team now sit joint next-to-bottom in the 1st Division of the Downs League but have two games in hand. With Jamaica Bell looking certain to go down and 6 point separating the next 6 teams it could be an exciting finish to the season. The Saturday B Team are joint bottom of the 2nd Division in the Downs League, but with just 3 points between the bottom 4 teams there is everything to play for. The Easton Cowboys Downs League teams are team of the week in the Evening Post tomorrow (Tuesday 16th).

The Suburbans lie 6th in the 1st Division in their first season in the Bristol And Suburban League. They have only lost one game this season but have had a lot of draws, they also have 1 or 2 games in hand over most of the teams above them. Phil takes his boys back to the Downs next Saturday to play Ashley in GFA Junior cup Semi Finals. The Downs League have officially described this fixture as “interesting” but the are are itching to teach the Suburbans a lesson for deserting at the end of last season. Kick off is on the Downs at 1:30pm Saturday 27th Feb.

The Sunday Team are 3rd from bottom of the Bristol And District League Premier Division. However, with the bottom team on 1 point the next 4 teams are separated by just 6 points.

God knows where the Netball teams are in the league because the tables on the website have not been updated since the beginning of January. But 1s seem to be doing well and the 2s seem to be doing better than last season.

Cowgirls football training update

Posted by on Feb 11, 2010 in Team News | 0 comments

Cowgirls football training with Conchita on Mondays 15th and 22nd Feb is NOT at Fairfield (hall’s closed) and NOT at the normal time. Instead, we will be outdoors on the astro beside Golden Hill Tesco (off Kellaway Avenue in Henleaze) from 8 – 9.30 pm.

If you don’t know it, type “Lime Trees Rd, BS6 7? into an online map. [NB we are NOT training at the Golden Hill stadium/sports ground on Stadium Rd in the same area]. Turn into Lime Trees Rd off Kellaway Ave, as if heading to Tesco. The car park is right at the mini roundabout and you’ll see the astro lying behind it. See you there!

A reminder

Regarding meetings

For the six who could be bothered to come to hawks gym please ignore this. To the other ninety five

playing members of the football teams, there was a football meeting at hawks gym on Monday 8th of feb. It was well advertised on the web site and the peashooter, and i believe members from each team where asked to remind players.

Without meetings the cowboys and girls would not be the club we are today, do not take things for granted. Because we go about our business in a sound democratic way, we need at least fifteen people to attend meetings, so we can vote on important issues..

SO NEXT TIME YOU SEE MEETING ON THE WEB SITE OR THE PEASHOOTER, ALBEIT CLUB OR MENS FOOTBALL JUST MOTIVATE YOURSELF TO ATTEND. OR RING IN WITH AN APOLOGY.

Could team managers please nominate at least two players to attend meetings.

We will have another meeting in march and an AGM in early may dates to be confirmed. I hope these are both well attended the club as a lot to look forward to this summer. I will make sure all team managers are informed.

Thanks Nige w if you want to contact me on any issues regarding this message email nigewalke55@hotmail. Or tel 01179083278 mobile 07786915596.
