Ever fancied playing football with the Cowgirls? Wanted to give it a try, but not got round to it or a bit shy to come on your own first time? Then this is the night for YOU!
Monday 23rd Feb 2009, Fairfield High School, off Muller Road, 7pm-8.30pm , drinks in the Duke of York after. Come along with other people who are also trying out the Cowgirls for the first time First session is FREEEEEEEEEEEE, usually £3 but no one turned away because of insufficient funds. Previous football experience not essential, but a good SOH is!

The Chestnut Cup

The Chestnut Cup
The Chestnut Cup is a charity 6-a-side football tournament in aid of the Chestnut Appeal for prostrate cancer. Between 9 and 12 teams will be taking part on Sunday 26th April. It will be held at Marjon College in Plymouth. The Charity is also looking for somebody to run the event on the day. 1 in 11 men will get prostate cancer – an alarming statistic The Chestnut Appeal was set-up in 1999, to improve the support for men with prostate cancer across the region. In January 2003 the charity was adopted by BBC Radio Devon and in a little less than two years the staff and listeners had helped raise £1 million for the appeal. The Chestnut Appeal is now involved in all aspects of diagnosis and treatments for patients with prostate cancer. Chestnut nurses have been recruited across the region; in Truro, Plymouth, Exeter, Torbay and Barnstaple. This year the Chestnut Appeal is aiming to buy a new tri-plane ultrasound scanner for the Chestnut unit at Derriford. At £33,000 its an expensive piece of equipment. Urologist, Doctor Salvatore Natale. “Equipment is always evolving and we aim to offer the latest and the best available to our patients. Funds raised by the Chestnut Appeal, have given us the possibility to purchase the latest ultrasound scanner, which will improve the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.
Even More Men’s Football Meetings
There will be yet another Men’s Football EGM on Saturday 21st February at 5:30pm at Easton Community Centre. Items on the agenda include moving the Saturday A Team out of the Downs League and the Brasil tour.

The B Team Lost 0-1 to Ashley Reserves in the All Saints Cup.
Netball 1 beat their nemesis South Side reds by one point, winning 29-28. Unfortunately Netball 2 lost to Longwell Green 60-10.
The Bascketball results have not been posted on the league website yet.

Gaza Benifit
There’s a DJ night fundraiser for Free Gaza (http://www.freegaza.org) at the Plough on Saturday 31st January. There’s a heady mix of hip hop, roots reggae, dub, ska, hip hop and drum and bass from 9pm til late. Suggested donation is £3.

Brasil Meeting
There will be a meeting for all those interested in going on the Brasil tour in The Plough on Saturday 24th January at 5pm.

The tour to Brasil to visit Los Autonomous looks to be going ahead.
Punky says that the plan so far is to leave 13th/14th May and return by 30th May.
