In Door (Not Indore) Cricket Results

The Cricket Team have entered an indoor cricket league. Rob reports thus:

last night was he first game in the cricket 8aside league, fate had drawn us the old E nemy for our first match and a couple of admin errors had all 9 of us at the gym in good time for the first match to be played that night, unfortunately we were the second match on so consequently were in either better time. this time was not wasted as we got a chance to see future opponants play and got a few tips on tactics , both how to and how not to play. the time previous to this was spent pondering the game ( it think, although upon discussion it was decided that pondering other things was not yet illegal if pondering something that was legal)) of netball as the 6 form girls were practising this exciting sport.

of the nine , wayne gallantly offered his place to tall dave , only for nelly to have to drop out due to an emergency, wayne was reinstated we had 8 and on to the pitch we strode, when i say pitch think gym and when i say gym vacate your mind of the cold , wet splintered, broken runged gyms of your youth and imagine a top notch facility that you could have only dreamed of when at school. 5 basketball pitches , all lights working air con and glass walls. At a meeting on Monday 3rd October the Cowboys & Cowgirls pressed the fission ignition and formally started the journey towards hosting a 20th anniversary tournament in 2012.

If you wish to be part of planning this momentous event you should get to the next meeting on Monday 24th October 2011 at 7pm in Hawks Gym or use the contact form on this website to ask to be put on the email list which will be used to discuss the nitty gritty.

The first step is to find a venue. If you think you know of a possible venue that full fills the following criteria please let us know asap. Criteria:

  • Not in a residential area, ideally some distance away from any houses;
  • Within one hour of Bristol;
  • A minimum of 3 full sized football pitches;
  • Space for camping
  • Affordable;
  • A club house;
  • Showers & toilets;
  • Access to site;
  • Space for marquees;
  • Water;
  • Big enough for 500 people comfortably;
  • A cricket pitch (ideally on site, if not as close as possible);
  • A space for netball (indoor or out) eg. a tennis court (again, ideally on site, if not as close as possible).

We also need somebody willing to take the Peashooter over since big DM can no longer do it. If you think you have what it takes please get in touch.

Casuals Vrs Ultras Match Report

Posted by on Oct 3, 2011 in Results/Reports, Videos | 0 comments

During the phoney war that raged before the Casuals Vrs Ultra Casuals cup clash who was Alex Ferguson and who was Kevin Keegan? And who was Luther Blisset? What is certain is that on Sunday morning several of the Casuals’ players were admitting that they were more nervous than they would usually be before a game; and with the Ultras three divisions below them and having never won a match, terms such as “potential banana skin” where being used. And what better motivation could there be for the Ultras, a first ever victory in a one off clash against their club mates (aka heinous foe).

Old Men x 2

The weather was hot and the Cow faithful turned out in numbers over 40. A sofa appeared in what seemed to be a creative attempt at fly tipping. Both sides looked round nervously to see if the promised spare parts had turned up in the Pit Lane, replacement hips and knees were expected to be as vital as isotonic sports drinks. (more…)

Meeting Reminder

Posted by on Oct 3, 2011 in Club News | 0 comments

Please remember that there is a meeting of all the people who are interested in helping to put on a big tournament next year tonight (Monday) in Hawks Gym, at 7pm. There was a vote at the Full Club BGM a fortnight ago to do a tournament in 2012 which is the Cowboys’ 20th anniversary.

Punky has been communicating with the other teams around Europe and will report back at this meeting.

If this tournament is going to happen this meeting will need a good turnout, so please come.
